About

The goal of the Midwifery Task Force is to build and maintain strategic relationships in order to improve conditions for practicing midwifery in the community setting in Colorado.

Task Force midwives include: Jen Anderson-Tarver, Julia Amend, Joy Frazer, and Dia Ingalls.

Current projects include:

  1. Communication with DORA regarding disciplinary action for Direct Entry midwives and the expert review process. Look out in your inboxes for an email from DORA requesting direct entry midwives apply to serve as an expert witness on complaint investigations. We encourage you to apply if you have been registered for more than 5 years and have no disciplinary action on file.

  2. Making a change to the existing rules and regulations for direct entry midwives to include the ability to obtain and administer Tranexamic Acid (TXA) for use in cases of postpartum hemorrhage. There will be a stakeholders meeting with DORA  about this change (date to be determined).

  3. Working with Colorado Medicaid administrators (HCPF) to help facilitate reimbursement of direct entry midwives for community birth services by CO Medicaid.

  4. Working on legislation that has to do with midwifery, including a forthcoming bill to recognize the Certified Midwives (CM) credential in Colorado.
