Elephant Circle became a contracted attorney through Project Safeguard’s pilot program which helps their clients battling domestic violence cases.
In one case, a newly married pregnant woman sought help in securing a protective order against her abusive husband. Although other organizations were apprehensive about taking on this case, Elephant Circle believed they had the expertise in working with military policy and a wide range of resources that may prove to be helpful for this client.
The couple married during “Mary’s” pregnancy from another relationship. He wasn’t around for extended periods of time due to his active service in the military. However, in between deployments, he became increasingly violent and abusive. After Mary received fatal threats from her husband she left and like a number of clients sought a protection order through Project Safeguard. With the help of Elephant Circle and Project Safeguard, the protection order was granted.
